  MOB (Moose On Bikes) MOMENTS

The MOB is here and in full force at Fredericksburg Moose Lodge 1655. The idea for starting the group originated with George & Krista Breuninger a couple of local Moose members that went to Daytona Beach, FL on vacation. When they visited the local Moose Lodge there, they discovered a new entity of the Moose, “Moose on Bikes” aka “The MOB”. It consisted of Moose members that own and enjoy riding motorcycles (no matter what the make or model). After purchasing a couple of MOB t-shirts and other miscellaneous paraphernalia, they not only brought their purchases home with them, but also the idea that perhaps the members of their home lodge might be interested in starting their own “MOB”. The idea was tossed around a bit among members of the Lodge that rode motorcycles and before we knew it, people were asking to sign up. Sam Thomas sent the required documentation to the State and we were approved to start our group. But before we could actually start functioning as a recognized committee, we had to become a committee. We met with the Board of Officers in July and made our request; we walked into open arms. So, here we are - “THE MOB”.

Recently, we have had the pleasure of doing a couple of different things at the Lodge. We were asked by Governor Wayne (via George Moore) about doing the Friday night Fish Dinner. We were happy to oblige and appreciated the opportunity to become active. So, we got together, put on our aprons, pulled up our sleeves and started cooking. The Friday night Fish Dinner went off without a hitch. Then Bob Tally asked us if we would be interested in doing the Sunday, August 1st, breakfast (all of the usual workers were at the convention in Richmond). Again, we agreed. That too, went very well. (We are just such a talented bunch. Personally, I‘ve never had so much fun in the kitchen.)

We are growing quickly in size and are currently in the process of having an official election to fill the positions necessary to be an efficient and beneficial committee. That meeting will be held on September 5 at 11:00 am at the Lodge. If anyone is interested in filling any of the positions or would like to nominate someone for a position, please attend. Currently, we are looking for three trustees, two treasurers (not within the same household), and a secretary. Elected officials will be posted on the MOB bulletin board in the Lodge along with contact information. For the time being, points of contact for the MOB are:

Krista Breuninger - 540-455-3922 or pinky1@adelphia.net
Tad Bliss - 540-379-9243 or foghorn058@aol.com
Janie Mason - 540-455-6558 or perfectx2@aol.com

Consecutive MOB meetings are held the first Sunday of every month at 11:00 a.m. We would like to see more of our registered members attend the meetings. Interesting and great things are happening and changes are coming quickly.

The MOB would like to take this opportunity to thank some folks for giving us so much guidance and assistance through these beginning stages. (That does not mean that we would not appreciate further assistance in the future.) George & Shelia Moore for advice on structuring, the Bingo Committee for the great donations for our raffles, Terry & Marie and Don & Maggie for advice on the “Do‘s and Don’ts” and Ned & Brenda Macbryde for all of the “plugs” and the endless hours of entertainment. Also, we want to thank all of the members of the Lodge that have supported our endeavors, small and large. All of you guys are great and we really appreciate you all. May God bless you and keep you safe. For all of our fellow bikers, “Keep the shiny side up and keep it between the lines.”

On Behalf of MOB
